Auction rules
How the auction works
- The auction is open to BASA staff only. You need an account with your work email address.
- Each item has a starting bid and a bid step. A new bid must be at least the current price plus the bid step.
- The highest bid when bidding closes wins. If someone bids in the last few minutes, the closing time moves later so others have a chance to respond.
- The closing times shown on the site are the official times.
Bids are binding
- You can't withdraw or change a bid once you've placed it. Check the amount before you confirm.
- Only bid if you intend to buy the item at that price.
Payment by salary deduction
- If you win an item, the full winning amount will be deducted from your salary through payroll.
- By accepting these rules, you agree to this deduction for every item you win.
- HR will confirm when the deduction will be made.
Collecting your item
- The auction administrators will tell you when and where to collect your item.
- Items are sold as they are, with no guarantee or warranty. Read the description and look at the photo carefully, and ask the auction administrators before bidding if anything is unclear.
If a winner can't complete the purchase
- If a winner withdraws, the auction administrators may give the item to the next-highest bidder at that person's highest bid. That bid is then binding in the same way.
Fair play
- Bid only for yourself, and don't share your account.
- The auction administrators can withdraw an item at any time, for example if its details were wrong. Bids on a withdrawn item no longer apply.
Your personal information
- We keep your name, work email address, employee number (if you give it) and your bids.
- We use this only to run the auction, to email you about your bids, and to arrange the salary deduction and collection for items you win. Winners' details are shared with HR and payroll for this.
- Other staff can't see who bid or how much each person bid. They only see the current price.
- Your information is kept for as long as it's needed for the auction and payroll records. To see or correct it, or with any questions, contact the auction administrators.
